The Avatar PD705 (1GB Version) is an updated release of the original PD705. While the physical chassis and pad layout remain identical to the original 512MB model, the internal hardware has been upgraded to double the storage capacity and sound library. Key Upgrades in the 1GB Model Expanded Internal Storage: The total internal memory is now 1GB (up from 512MB). Increased Sample Flash-ROM: This is the most critical part for your custom work. The user sample memory has been expanded to 512MB (up from 128MB). This allows for roughly 50 minutes of high-quality mono WAV samples. New Sound Library: The pre-loaded library has been refreshed with “HD” (High Definition) samples. It features more than 600 sounds with better velocity switching for more natural dynamics. Critical Setup Notes Firmware Version: To take full advantage of the 1GB architecture, ensure the unit is running Firmware 2.02 or higher. You can check this by going to SETUP > VER on the device. File Formatting: Even with the larger memory, the pad still strictly requires 16-bit / 44.1kHz WAV files. If you export a 24-bit file from your DAW, the PD705 will likely return a “File Error.” USB Drive Selection: These units can be sensitive to USB 3.0 drives. For the most reliable sample transfers, use a USB 2.0 drive formatted to FAT32.
